Volunteer members of City Boards, Commissions, and Committees are appointed by City Council to advise the Council and City Management on a variety of issues. The City of Longview has a number of various Boards, Commissions and Committees. In addition to these, City Council may, from time to time, appoint short-term committees for special purposes.
Many of the City of Longview's various Boards, Commissions and Committees have residency and other special requirements. It is City Council's policy to appoint persons to a maximum of three consecutive two year terms on most boards. Appointments are made in March. Board, Commission and Committee members are required to attend regularly scheduled meetings. Poor attendance could be reason for Council to remove a member from office.
